My Favourite Festival
An eBook Project
Grade level
Primary 2 (Key Stage 1)
Theme
Task
Students design an ebook to introduce their weekly activities
No. of lessons
8 lessons (35 minutes each)
Created by Kowloon Bay St. John the Baptist Primary Catholic Primary School and the University of Hong Kong.
About the unit
Developed as an extension of a writing task on the same theme, students compose an ebook that covers the basics of their favourite festival, including aspects such as weather, typical months, and personal celebrations. They describe why they enjoy the festival and who they celebrate it with. Students are encouraged to showcase their creativity in the design of their eBooks, personalising them with pictures, drawings, and videos of their own festival celebrations.
Prior knowledge
Students have written a passage on the same theme, which was corrected by their teachers. In Term 1, they gained experience in typing and learned the basics of colour matching to ensure legibility.
Learning objectives
By the end of the unit, students will be able to…
